Cancer is the general term used to describe
the group of diseases in which cells are growing in an uncontrolled
and purposeless way within the body.
There are over 200 types of cancer with many
important differences between them.
Although there has been much research aimed
at identifying the factors that can trigger cancer, there
are still many cancers for which there is no known cause.
There is no single, simple, reliable treatment
that can be used for all types of cancer.
